Three hours after the tech left, the speeds dropped again to very slow and aren't going back up. The Frontier tech was way more helpful and actually solved the problem. Also, make sure it is an actual Frontier tech and not a contractor Frontier tech. Call for a tech to come out, ask for a new modem, have it updated, and make sure the ethernet cord is plugged into the 1gig port. So for anyone out there that has Frontier Fiber Internet and your speeds have been getting worse. The one thing he was unable to explain was why I was getting great speeds downloading something off Steam or Google Drive, but slow speeds off Usenet servers. Tweaknews, Astraweb, and Vipernews speeds are all at max. He gave me a new modem, updated it, and then inserted the ethernet cord into the 1gig port and BAM, it all worked great! I have tested both Newsleecher and SABnzbd, and both have full speeds. The tech explained that the problem is the 10gig port on all the modems and that they are either failing from the start or will fail after about a year or so. One is a 1gig and the other is a 10gig port. So, the modem I have from Frontier has two ethernet ports. Just had an actual Frontier tech out here (the others were contractors) and he fixed everything. UPDATE: For now, it seems all has been fixed. I will have a tech coming over hopefully tomorrow and will update this post regarding what happens. So I start up the test file and sure enough, the speeds are awesome and consistent, downloading at around 30 megabytes a second. This time I used my hotspot from my phone which was giving me speeds of around 270 megabits down. I am at work and take out my Surface Pro to download the SABnzbd test file, which I tried yesterday on my Surface Pro using WiFi and the speeds were horrible. Thanks!ĮDIT: I am almost 100% sure it is my ISP. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I have even tested my Steam downloads and I get great results. Is my ISP blocking something making me have these slow speeds? I have run speed tests and everything is getting 500/500. One odd thing to note, I have Astraweb as a secondary account and have tested my speeds on that account and I get the same slow speed. I am downloading to an SSD but have switched to my nvme 980 Pro and still the same slow speeds. Now I am stuck at downloading at 7 megabytes. Then, the speeds started to have big dips going from 60 megabytes to 7 megabytes (it kind of looked like a slow-rolling wave on my speed graph). First, the speeds started to slow a little. ![]() I am on Frontier 500/500 fiber and this started about 3 weeks ago. Is anyone else that has Tweaknews experiencing this.
